Kathmandu:

When Jhuma sings she brings out the essence of the song,” popular music composer and one of the judges, Aalok Shree, comments. Her performance had been remarkable all throughout the preliminary auditions at Dharan. However, Jhuma had to go through a disappointing phase when in the selection round for the top 20 she was enlisted the 21st participant. Lady Luck seemed to smile at her once again when one of the 20 contestants failed to abide by agreement of the programme. Jhuma was euphoric when she was called back to participate as one of the top 20 contenders. She succeeded to prove her knack of singing in the following rounds and has finally been selected among the top ten contestants. Deepak Jan-gam, eminent music composer and one of the judges, says, “Jhuma’s performance has been remarkable and it’s getting honed and refined every other day.”

Everyone in Jhuma’s family loves music. In fact, if there’s anything that binds them all together, it’s music first and foremost. Jhuma learnt the rudiments of music from her father, who was a renowned singer and who sang for Radio Nepal. Even Jhuma’s elder brother is a well known music composer. No wonder then that she stood out as one of the top ten contenders. Jhuma had missed a beat or two in a few rounds previously because of her inadequate concentration during stage performance. However, Aalok Shree is very optimistic about her singing career in future. “She will become a good singer in future,” he says. As the event is nearing the finals, each episode of the event is becoming more exciting everyday. Rupak Dotel, Prem Bika, Sheetal Yonjan and Reshubabu Dudhraj are performing in today’s episode of Samsung Nepali Tara, a hunt for a singing star. The winner will be selected as a top ten finalist.
