Magical music

On February 10, the school correspondents of The Himalayan Times visited (TSDCBD). In order to know the technical aspect of teaching I interviewed Birkamal Shrestha a music teacher and Ramgopal Karki a senior music student there.

When I asked Shrestha about the environment there he said that he liked the environment because he loved teaching the blind and the differently abled. “How hard is it to teach the blind and the physically challenged?” Shrestha replied, “It is quite hard to teach them and it also consumes a lot of time.”

I also inquired about how the students were chosen when they performed at a concert. “The combination of the best musician are picked,” he said. He also informed that they perform at concerts to raise funds for the Centre.

Ramgopal Karki, one of the senior music students has been in the Centre for about a year. I asked him how he had come to this field. He said that he had been playing music in his village with his teacher. He had studied for three years and had even got a scholarship.
