Malami launched

Kathmandu:

Malami, a Nepali movie made in collaboration of Imaginaire production, France and Cinema de parallel, Nepal, was launched at Hotel de la’ Annapurna on April 15.

The launch programme started blowing a conch, and all those present were made to sign and stamp their fingerprints of the way it is done traditionally in the agreement papers. Actor Anup Baral who plays the lead role recited a poem at the event. Sailesh Acharya, president of the Film Development Board was the chief guest of the function.

The 20 minutes long black and white movie is based on a play by Saru Bhakta Mathema and is directed by Subarna Thapa. The movie deals with the situation in the rural parts of Nepal where there is hardly anyone to attend funeral processions for most of them are either displaced or have gone away looking for greener pastures.

The cast of the movie includes Shanti Maskey, Bipana Thapa Bishnu Bhakta Phunyal.Prominent members of Nepali film industry were also present at the function.
