In her first interview since having a baby last month at age 17, Jamie Lynn Spears, the younger sister of Britney Spear, described the experience as “the best feeling in the world”. Spears made the comments for a cover article in the OK! magazine.

A star in her own right on the kids TV series Zoey 101, Jamie Lynn is engaged to marry the father of the baby, 19-year-old Casey Aldridge.

“The first time I saw her, it was surreal. You can’t even imagine that moment. She just looked at me, and she really didn’t cry at first,” Jamie Lynn told the publication. “I was scared, and then she started screaming. It is the best feeling in the world.

“The first time she really opened her eyes and I could see her looking at me and staring at me, that was the most amazing moment, ever. She looked at me, and she knew I was her mama. That was my favourite moment in the whole world.”

Watching Aldridge hold Maddie for the first time “was the coolest thing... He was so happy, and that made me the happiest person alive.”

Jamie Lynn thinks Maddie takes after daddy. “As much as I’d like her to look like me... she looks like Casey! He reminds me of it every day,” she said. — AP/DPA
