Man teaches bird to fly

A man in Cornwall who adopted a baby heron has been teaching the chick how to fly. Garry Zammit started caring for the bird when its parents got lost in a storm, and named him Dude. Birds learn how to take to the sky from their parents, Dude had no one to show him how. So Zammit began giving Dude less-ons by running beside him, flapping his arms. Zammit tried to encourage Dude to fly with food. But that didn’t work, so he’s started showing the bird himself. “I ended up running alongside him, flapping my arms like an idiot.” But he said it was a “wonderful sight” when Dude managed lift-off.
