KATHMANDU:

Those old melodious songs on Radio Nepal or our parents humming them. Those songs leave a mark forever. Songs like Ma ta laligurans bhayechu, Pokhiyera gham ko jhulka and Malai na sodha kaha dukhcha ghau penned by legendary lyricist Hari Bhakta Katuwal will be performed for all contemporary music lovers at Paleti at nepa~laya on June 27.

According to a nepalaya statement, to honour the contributions of Hari Bhakta Katuwal to Nepali contemporary music, Meera Thapa, a graduate of Rabindra Sangeet from Digboi, Guwahati has been invited to perform his songs.

Most of Katuwal’s songs are milestones in the history of Nepali music industry, lot of songs penned by the lyricist while he was in Assam are yet to be heard and cherished. However, this month’s Paleti fills that void.

“I am planning to sing his songs which are unheard here,” stated the release quoting Thapa.
