Nepathya releases Mero Hajur’s lyric video

KATHMANDU: Nepathya has released lyric video of its love song Mero Hajur on YouTube on February 14, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. The video is unique, as it uses sign language to share the song’s lyrics.

As per a press release issued by Nepalaya, the video has been made by Shashank Shrestha and his Kathaharu team, and produced by Nepalaya. The press statement adds that there is a romantic story behind the creation of this song.

Nepathya’s frontman Amrit Gurung was on a trek to Everest Base Camp in 2005. On a December night at Lobuche (4930 metres), he couldn’t sleep due the sub-zero temperature and thin air. Gurung peeped out of the window and was awestruck with the scene — a full moon night with clear sky.

He felt, “The mountains were smiling at me. The stars were twinkling so close to me.” And he wanted to share that view his beloved, who was not with him then. So, he attempted to write something on it. Due to the cold, he couldn’t hold a pen. So, he recited what was in his mind and recorded it. Then, a tune struck to him, which he recorded too. A love song had been created!

After returning from his trek, Gurung shared the song with his band mates. Everyone liked it, so they arranged and

recorded it. The song was titled Mero Hajur. It was included in the band’s album Aaina Jhyal (2010).

But on February 14, Nepalaya’s Kiran Krishna Shrestha surprised Gurung with the lyric video of the same song. While showing the video, Shrestha told Gurung, “This is a Valentine’s Day gift to you.”

A girl in the black and white lyric video is seen presenting the song in sign language, making it an interesting watch. Illustrations of love sign, butterfly, starry night, and landscape are also a part of the video.
