Newton-John heartbroken over missing boyfriend

Los Angeles: Singer Olivia Newton-John has revealed her heartbreak over the disappearance of longtime boyfriend, Patrick Kim McDermott. McDermott, 48, has not been seen since he went on an overnight fishing trip on June 30 from southern California’s San Pedro Harbour.

Police do not know what happened to him despite investigating the case for seven weeks. On Monday, Newton-John broke her silence on the mystery, saying she was “hopeful that eventually we will find some answers.”

“For those who know and love him,” Newton-John said of McDermott in a statement, “it has been a truly heart-breaking experience.” Newton-John, 56, met cameraman McDermott in 1996 while filming a commercial. They have been dating for nine years. The England-born Newton-John moved to Australia at the age of five. She had a string of hits, including “Have You Never Been Mellow” and “Physical” in the 1970s and 1980s, and has won four Grammy awards. She also starred opposite John Travolta in the hit 1978 film ‘Grease.’
