NFPJ contest for photojournalists

With the intention to further spur the capability of photojournalists, Nepal Forum of Photo Journalists (NFPJ) is organising its press photo contest and exhibition from May 11-15 at the Nepal Art Council.

This information was shared at a press conference organised by NFPJ on March 23 at Nepal Tourism Board.

Titled ‘Photo Concern- NFPJ Press Photo Contest-2007,” the photos in the competition will vie in four different categories — News, Feature, Environment, and Sports. The winners in each category will walk away with Rs 15,000, while the first and second runners up will receive Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 respectively. One photo from any of the above four categories will be declared the NFPJ-Press Photo of the Year, attracting a cash prize of Rs 50,000. Only 12 inch X 18 inch print photos clicked in the year 2006 will be entertained for the contest.

According to the organisers, a total of four photos in each category by photojournalists and freelancers affiliated to print/online media will be eligible for the competition. The journalists are required to fill in an entry form priced at Rs 50, which has to be submitted before April 20.
