No more of feeling strange
A nine-year-old girl in New Zealand hated her name so much she got it changed in court.
And the judge ruled that her name — Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii — was embarrassing and made the girl a target for teasing. Judge Rob Murfitt also attacked a trend for giving children bizarre names. He said officials had blocked names including Keenan Got Lucy and Yeah Detroit, but Number 16 Bus Shelter and Violence had been allowed.
The girl’s name issue came to light during a legal hearing to work out who she should live with. The girl had refused to tell her friends her name and went simply by ‘K’. Judge Murfitt wrote, “The court is profoundly concerned about the very poor judgment which this child’s parents have shown in choosing this name.” Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii’s new name has been kept secret to protect her.
