The Kathmanduites rang in the year 2007 with much jubilation. A number of parties were organised around town and people braved the cold to be up and about to usher the new year.

Bollywood magic:

Those who made it to the Bollywood Temptations must still be high patting themselves for their decision to to ring in the new year at the Rox Bar in Hyatt.

Immersed in tête-à-têtes sipping drinks in romantic surrounding, the crowd initially appeared busy saving its energy for the rollicking later on. Ma-ny were seen warming their chilled bo-nes at the bonfires.

Finally, the much awaited event reliving moments of Indian cinema began with vignettes from 1950s. The programme showcased memorable video clips highlighting the changing musical trends in Indian cinema — a tribute to masterpieces that have made Bollywo-od what it is today.

Ronica Jacob’s dance troupe ‘The Planets’ dressed in glittering costumes urged the crowd to come and dance.

And by the time DJ Jimmy Tangree took over the console, hardly anyone remained sitting. With his eclectic choice of music, he had the crowd rocking till after 2:00 am.

Rocking at Liquid:

‘Rocking’ is how the ‘New Year Fiesta’ at Liquid Lounge can be summed up. Grooving music, energetic crowd and pretty ladies marked the atmosphere as the party animals ushered in another new year.

DJ Vibe and DJ Yanik turned on the heat with their mix of commercial hip-hop and Hindi film numbers. Whether it was hip hop numbers by Sean Paul and Will Smith or blast from the past with Ek do te-en, partygoers grooved with unrivalled enthusiasm.

As the night progressed, the Poolside came alive with the party poopers. A huge roar went up as the DJ played the hit song Kya mujhe pyaar hai from Woh Lamhe. Then the DJs kept the mood alive with numbers like Aari Aari, Where’s the party tonight, Beedi jalailye, Gasolina and so on.

As the clock struck the hour everyone hugged their loved ones, and air kisses filled the air. The party continued till the wee hours of day one of 2007.

Dancing frenzy:

The other ‘New Year Fiesta’ was at Jeans. If all the party stations in the Capital were bursting in its seams, Jeans had its own share of the hippest party hoppers. Though the party kicked off much later in the evening, the crowd was on tenterhooks to have the biggest bash of the year.

Besides the young and the restless crowd, it was also the exotic ambience that added to the excitement of the occasion.

The young and hip danced the night to numbers by DJ NVN and DJ SickFreak ranging from hip-hop and Nepali songs, but it was the Bollywood hits that sent them into a dancing frenzy. Jeans Café’s first party and it was a success. People flaunted their dancing skills till the hours in the morning.
