Playing back on playback

Kathmandu:

Playback is an innovative theatrical concept. It is created through a unique collaboration between performers and their audience. Anyone from the audience is invited to tell a story or a moment from their life. They choose actors individually to play roles, and then watch their story being recreated immediately. Playback is an interactive, improvisational theatre that invites interaction. The actors enact stories with music, movement, action and dialogue. The mission is to share stories. Jonathan Fox founded the playback theatre in 1975 AD. Since then, playback has grown in the international arena along with his original theatre company that was established in the USA. The conductor is the host and facilitator of the whole process. There is no script, but there is a rhythm and sequence to a playback theatre performance.
