Poesy

Blue:

See the blue sky

Where the birds fly

The birds are very happy

Because the sky is not cloudy

I wonder why the sky is blue

But I don’t get any clue

I dream to walk in the sky

But I don’t have wings to fly

When the sky looks bright

Everything is in good sight

When the sky is dark

Even dogs don’t bark.

— Aparmita Shakya, Class VI, Emerald Academy, Lalitpur

Examination Fever:

On hearing the word

My body starts to shiver

My heart beats faster

My body turns colder

That’s what I call examination fever.

When I sit for my exam

My hand begins to tremble

I go pale and begin to quiver

That’s what I call examination fever.

When I read the question paper

I start biting my nails

And can’t write anything

On my answer paper

That’s what I call examination fever.

Eventually the time gets over

So I give my paper to the teacher

And surprisingly my examination fever too is over.

— Payal Shakya, Class VIII, Swayambhu English School, Kathmandu

In my dream house:

I have a dream to live

in a hut

Where there are flowers in earthen pots

And the trees evergreen

The environment fresh and clean.

Near the lake I will stay

In the garden I will play

There will be a boat for me

And the mountains that I see.

I will see the fir tree

Where I will be alone and free

Where I can live in peace

My dream house it will be.

My best friend:

To someone

Very true of heart

Joy was in my pocket

Sorrow was always shared

Whenever I looked back

I found your friendly smile

You were there to pull me

Not a less could be asked

But sure you want

That is the reason why

I called you my best friend.

— Bimal Paneru, Class IX, Mount Olives High School, Kathmandu

Friendship:

Friendship is something

Which always makes us smile

Friends are the persons

Who cannot see us cry even for a while.

Friendship is a gift of God

Which is needed for the

entire life

Friends are supporters

Who support us in our

every grief.

Friendship is very important

More precious than

even gold

Friends are always ready

To help us by being bold.

Friendship is a red rose

Which is liked by all

A friend can be any person

Whether short or tall.
