Pokhara: All Pokharelis and tourists remained awake the entire night to welcome the new year with much fanfare.

The ‘New Year Eve Dinner and Dance Party’ at the Shangrila Village and Resort was one such event where people had great fun. Fashion show, food festival, dancing and singing marked the evening here. The guests could not help but groove along to the mood of the evening and Amar Subba Nemwang, DIGP, chief of western regional Armed Police Forces was one of the grooving many.

At midnight, the crowd burst out unanimously shouting, “Happy New Year” and people could be seen hugging and exchanging new year greetings with each other. The even was a great success, said Dil Bahadur Gurung, the hotel’s front office manager.

Another party that rocked the night was the one at Fulbari Resort which had organised a fashion show (organised by IC Fashion) and a musical concert to usher in the new year.

Restaurant And Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) had also organsised a New Year Eve party at Lakeside and people were seen enjoying the last night of 2005 dancing away to the disco numbhers.
