Radio Aid raises £3 m for tsunami

Almost 300 radio stations across the UK linked up to raise over £3m for tsunami survivors in Asia. All the stations got rid of the DJs and shows they normally put on and all broadcast the same 12-hours of programmes for UK Radio Aid instead. Even PM Tony Blair got involved, and was interviewed by DJ Chris Evans. DJs including Davina McCall and Dermot O’Leary and stars like Jamelia, Keane and Franz Ferdinand took part. As many as 26 m people tuned in during the day while stars auctioned off treasured possessions to raise cash.
