Ready with brushes and blushes

KATHMANDU:

The selected top 30 finalists are all geared up to give their best at the grand finale of the Lakme Bridal Make-Up competition to be held on June 21 at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza.

Sharing their hopes and aspirations from the competition, one of the shortlisted beauticians Prativa Shakya said, “This is a good platform for beauticians to showcase their talents and skills within a limited time period, taking into consideration all the minute details.”

To this Sarita Gautam added that since an internationally renowned brand is organising this event, it’s a dream come true to participate in it.

Akriti Lama, one of the youngest beauticians who is taking part in a competition for the first time, feels that there is tough competition but is happy to be showing her artistic skills.

“This has not only boosted our moral but increased our confidence as well,” added Srijana Ghale.

Since the theme is bridal, most feel it has acted as an advantage and though they have to prepare the bridal look of a certain ethnic group that they have been given, they are all quite confident. Describing her experience Shital Thapa said, “We are being given trainings and guidance regarding the necessary look we need to create. We have also been researching on our own.”

And though they will be concentrating on ethnic looks, there will be slight modifications. As Bidhya Subba elaborates, “We will be focusing on giving a slightly glamorous look

too to the models, a little shine and glitter, since that is so much desired these days.”
