Recreating Bollywood magic
Kathmandu:
Here’s a bash to beat all the other bashes. The Active Women of Nepal (AWON) want you to enjoy an evening the Bollywood way.
They are all set to organise a fundraising event ‘An evening in Bollywood’ at Hotel Yak and Yeti on November 17. The event is purely inspired by Bollywood and will showcase electric performances by the feisty members of the AWON group and their spouses.
Bhawana Rana, president of AWON, said, “We are all set to create the Bollywood environment, wherein members will dance to Bollywood numbers from the past and present.”
“I’ve organised many similar events before, but this one’s going be smashing. The crowd is going to love it,” said Ritu Baidya, the choreographer for the event.
There will also be a cocktail reception and electric performances by professional dancers followed by a sumptuous dinner. The proceeds as always will be contributed to the welfare of women and children.
AWON has been providing scholarships to 300 girl children in the villages of Nepal and also owns a library, which has existed for the past 36 years. AWON has also been instrumental in providing skills training to women, which allows them to be self-reliant and has an emergency relief fund that is used to assist victims of natural as well as man-made disasters.
