Registration for tattoo convention opens
KATHMANDU: Display of tattoos on skin or on sketches or posters, tattoo lovers, tattoo artists, musicians and more — all these exciting elements come together in the tattoo convention. Nepal’s favourite tattoo fest is no less exciting, and it is back this year with a lot in store for tattoo enthusiasts. The 6th International Nepal Tattoo Convention is scheduled to take place from April 1 to 3 at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Durbar Marg.
And here is a chance for tattoo artists to be a part of the convention. The registration has already started, so book your space. The registration will end in mid March. Thirty international artists from the USA, England, Spain, Greece, Sweden, Japan, and India among others, have been confirmed for the convention.
“We already had a lot of bookings lined from 2015,” shared Bijay Shrestha, Director, Nepal Tattoo Pvt Ltd.
The tattoo convention of earlier year remained incomplete as the catastrophic earthquake struck on its second day (April 25). Due to this “we can feel a decrease in participation because of the fear of the earthquake” as per Shrestha.
At the same time, he is hopeful as they “have a lot of new artists coming because of the quake. They want to support the convention and Nepal in general. It is a blessing to have such friends and supporters from all around the world who consider our convention a really special one”.
The convention this year will “celebrate art and life”.
Nepali tattoo artists have done some really remarkable progress in these years as per Shrestha. While they will get a good platform to showcase their skill, the objective of organising the convention “is to learn, share, promote, educate and of course get tattooed by amazing tattoo artists from different parts of the world”.
Getting inked is definitely the convention’s major attraction. But it will also feature a special seminar on Geometry Chaos by world renowned artist Orge Kalodimas.
