Relief efforts

KATHMANDU:

The Westeast Youth Volunteer Organization Nepal (WYVON) and Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) recently joined forces to provide medical relief to the victims of the floods in the western Terai district of Banke.

According to a WYVON press release, a team of 26 youth volunteers from WYVON and GAA that included seven doctors, two health assistants travelled to Gangapur VDC and started their work from September 13. They were able to do a general check-up on a total of 1,657 people and found that mal-nutrition and vitamin deficiency were the major problems. The press release also states that no medical team or any kind of health camp have visited or been conducted at Gangapur for the last decade .
