Giving continuity to the yearly exhibition of its students entitled ‘Beauty of Colours: Beauty of Hearts’, Renesa Institute of Fine Arts organised its seventh exhibition entitled ‘Beauty of Peace’ at the Nepal Art Council on September 5. It was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Dr Madhav Sharma. The exhibition comprises around 130 paintings by 20 artists.
Mostly rendered in water and oil colour the paintings include landscapes, portraits, religious and historical monuments and rural sceneries among others. The abundance of rural houses portray the youngsters’ wish for peace and tranquility in the country, however one definitely felt there was space for more creativity.
One of the paintings of Hiranya Mahavihar, Patan, stands out for its staggering price tag of Rs 1, 25, 000. According to the young artist John Maharjan, “It took me seven months of meticulous effort to have it completed. I have tried not to leave out on any detail and frankly, I don’t want to sell it.” The exhibition is on till September 14.
