Kathmandu:
Some shows change the history of television and some shows bear the potential of changing the future of television. The significant change since the advent of Samsung Nepali Tara bears witness to this fact. Samsung Nepali Tara — a hunt for the singing star — is aired every Saturday on Nepal Television. Annapurna Post is the official media for the show. One substantial change that has become quite conspicuous is viewership. Organisers have run a competition among the viewers as well — whoever rightly predicts the winner will win a lot of prizes. Samsung Nepali Tara has now entered its third round. Aspirant singers are now performing duets to live music putting up their best efforts to woo the judges with their talent.
Once the number of contestants comes down to 20 after a few weeks, the organisers are putting them into a close camp training at Radisson Hotel. “We don’t want to leave any stone unturned to make it a megashow in Nepali television history,” says Brazesh Khanal. The top 10 finalists will have an opportunity to cut an album. Alokshree, one of the judges and prominent music directors of Nepal, has composed music for the album and songs for the album have been penned by veteran Nepali lyricists.
