Sanju croons for Asha’s album
MUMBAI: Sanjay Dutt was taken aback when Asha Bhosle requested him to record a song for her new album Asha and Friends.
The actor, who flexed his vocal cords in the past for Zinda, Musafir, Kaante, Khoobsurat and Lage Raho Munna Bhai, was still a tad nervous, recalled music director Shamir Tandon.
“Sanju is very kind and sweet. He is a child at heart and has sung amazingly well. I’d rate him 100 upon 100. He sincerely sat and studied the song and lyrics. He is a strict disciplinarian
and does his homework well. He has tremendous untapped potential and he can put a lot of singers to shame,” Bollywood Trade quoted Tandon as saying.
Sanjay has recorded a duet titled Chahiye and he did not charge any fee for it, he said. “He truly has the three pre-requisites needed for singing — namely base, rhythm and expression. He will be flooded with offers after this album releases. Even Ashaji endorses my viewpoint,” said Tandon.
Sanjay’s father Sunil Dutt had also recorded a song with Bhosle 40 years ago. Jackie Shroff will soon be recording for the other duet.
