Extempore contest
Different co-curricular activities are organised at GEMS every week. The inter–house extempore competition was organised on June 13 for the primary level. Each house — Garnet, Emerald, Moonstone and Sapphire — had a team comprising four participants each. The topics given were Value of Time, Our environment, The Game I Like the Most and Computers and each participant was given three minutes to express their views. Moonstone house stood first, while Garnet, Sapphire and Emerald stood second, third and fourth respectively. Sujeet Ghemire of Moonstone and Samrant Khadka of Sapphire were adjudged the best speakers. — Solar Kiranti, Class V, GEMS
Basketball diaries
The inter-house basketball competition of the Tripura secondary school was held on June 13 for both the junior and senior divisions. In the junior division, Lincoln house beat Wilson house by 13 baskets, while Wilson house thoroughly routed Lincoln house by 17 baskets in the senior category. Malla history tour
The students of Class VI of Triyog school were take on a field trip to Patan Durbar Square on June 5. The students got to see various monuments of historical significance of the place and had a marvellous time exploring the Malla history. — Reeha Dhungel, Class X, Triyog High School
Captains, ahoy
The investiture ceremony of DAV school was held on June 3. Badges and ties were presented to the head boy and girl of the school, and other captains of various sections. Prefects, house captains, sports and cultural captains were also presented with their respective badges and ties. MIS nightingales
The Modern Indian School organised an inter house song competition on May 30. The students from Class VI to IX took part in the contest. They sang devotional, regional and pop songs.
