Spotlight on environment

To mark World Environment Day on June 5, the Nobel Academy had conducted a programme related to environment and conservation. The members of the school’s environment club — Nobel Environmental Club (NEC) had displayed various recycled objects made up of waste materials — paper, plastic and various other materials. All the materials were made by the teachers and students and exhibited on the premises of Nobel Academy. Many trees were also planted on the premises of Nobel Academy. Grand sports day held

On the 12th death anniversary of Shuva Gurung, the first Shuvatara Sister Schools’ Sports Day was organised by the Shuvatara International School at Lamatar on May 27. The program was organised to strengthen and enrich the relationship among different sister schools in sports and related areas of education. The Chief Guest was the former DDC president Madhav Poudel, and special guests was Shyam Sundar Lal Kakshapati, chairperson of Shuvatara International School. Four Shuvatara sister schools — Sisnery, Shringery, Kalidevi and Basuki — competed among themselves. A busy week

A quiz competition was held for the students of classes VIII, IX and X on May 28. Three students from each house — Tribhuvan, Araniko, Kunsang and Buddha were selected to take part in the contest. Tribhuvan house stood first followed by Buddha, Kunsang and Arniko houses in second, third and fourth positions respectively. The same day the investiture ceremony of the school was held. The captains of the houses were named then Chimi Dholkar, Captain — Araniko, Sita Pokharel — Tribhuvan, Chimi Sherpa — Kunsang, and Sujata Rai — Buddha. Prashant Upadhyay became the school vice-captain, while Shilpa Gurung was named the school captain. Meanwhile, on May 25 a special programme called ‘Student Exchange Cultural Programme’ was held at the Rastriya Sabha Griha to highlight the friendly relationship between Nepal and Japan and enhance the importance

of education. The programme was organised by PABSON with the help of the Japanese Ambassador. Students from around 25 to 30 different schools were present at the programme. — Sujata Rai, Class IX, Kathmandu Valley School Campion Associate

Young poets

On May 17, GEMS held an inter-house Nepali Poem Competition for students of classes IX and X to encourage young poets to write more and polish their skills.The chief guest was Ranjit Thapa, ECA in-charge, and the judges were Bhoj Raj Baral, Laxmi N Niraula and Dhundiraj Pahadi. All the houses — Garnet , Emerald , Moonstone, Sapphire — were ready with their teams of four members each. For the next 90 minutes the young poets recited their poems. While the marks were totalled, Prasanna Sharma had the audience in splits with jokes. Emerald house first, and Moonstone, Sapphire and Garnet stood second, third and fourth respectively. Variety is spice

A variety show was organised by the students of Class X on June 1 at Shuvatara School, Sanepa. The show comprised musical performances followed by ad spoofs and dance performances. The audience, which included young Shuvatarians to elder ones
