SCHOOL TIMES : Get rid of rote learning
Higher percentage or higher grade is the sole goal of many students and the only expectation of many parents from their children. Indeed, good percentage is always a plus point, which adds to our academic qualification. However, several unnecessary qualities are developing in students just for the sake of getting good grades.
One of the prominent bad qualities in students is learning by rote. Many students try to cram up the entire book at eleventh hour simply to get good marks. Students are usually seen learning their books and note copies by heart without understanding what they are learning. Students these days prefer rote learning to conceptual learning. Above all, this system has reached to such an extent that children use this style of learning even for Mathematics and Science where understanding the subject matter is indispensable.
Above all, students are also used to copying assignments exactly from their friends to ease their work. And with the easy availability of guidebooks in the market, students are depending only on such books. By using these methods, we can never get long-term success. So, let’s explore creativity in
us and use our creativity and understanding as a rudder for academic excellence.
