KATHMANDU: Chirag Bangdel’s fourteenth solo exhibition ‘A Search For Serenity’ was inaugurated by Catherine Meyer, President, AWON at Gallery 32, Dent Inn, Heritage Plaza II on February 3.

The exhibition consists of artworks of two different styles that Bangdel is recognised for — figurative paintings of women and his multi-media collage Tattva. His paintings are a mixture both of monochromatic pieces and ones that have contrasting colours artistically merged together.

According to him, his Tattva series can be seen as symbolic, abstract or even a decorative piece. About his works he said, “If I can create a feeling that can be talked about in my paintings, then I feel that I have been successful.”

Describing his latest paintings which showcase paintings of his two styles he explained, “Sometimes reasons and motives find artists, and sometimes artists find the reasons, and I feel like I have found it as I seek spirituality as my muse.”

He feels that there was a time when paintings reflected the ugliness all around us, but he wishes to find beauty in his paintings and feels that it should be a healer, which is quite evident in his works.

The exhibition continues till February 15.
