Shades of every woman
KATHMANDU; Creativity took over the ramp on the second day of The Himalayan Times TGIF Nepal Fashion Week ’09 on September 8 at Hotel Yak and Yeti. One after another designers paraded their creativity transformed skillfully into fascinating designs carried off by the models with panache.
The show began with models walking out in different colours of flowing gown in various cuts and drapes. The collection — The Birth of Womanism — celebrated
feminism, and the models’ haywire but stylish hairdo in perfect
sync with the look projected the rebel attitude.
The other themes that followed kept this attitude alive. The Crazy Girls on the Ramp added a touch of spunk with metallic pink harem pants and with the Summer Delite came balloon dresses and eco-friendly fabrics. The dresses were accessorised with bones and beaded jewelleries from Unique Bone Beads Crafts Centre and shoes from Dillibazaar Shoes. Places like Human Arts Collection and Demand Tailoring centre had also contributed to this collection.
Delightful summer days made way for the divas of the red carpet in flowing gowns, layers of different fabrics in bright colours. By the time the red carpet was rolled up, models in checked capris came to take a stroll in the market. After couple of collections pertaining to western style, an ethnic touch was provided by the fish cut lehengas with heavy embroideries and lots of glitter.
The next sequence took everyone to the era madness and mayhem as the models walked out with eye patches and hats wearing high waisted pants with lots of pockets embodying the pirates that once terrorised the sea.
Normalcy settled in again as girls returned to ramp in dresses of silk and chiffon with ascending cuts catering to the theme of a staircase. Break away from pretty dresses, the designers of Free Willy paraded hot pants and printed tops — of Nepawear fabrics — depicting the free spirit of today’s woman. The unique head gears certainly made some heads turn. As the free spirit flew out, in came elegance and oomph in the form of mermaid with well-cut dresses in a variety of shades of blue. The very same hue came in a rather playful avatar with asymmetrical cuts and frills adorned with hand paints evoking the beautiful sky of twilight. The glitter in this collection came from the jewelleries of Marrigold jewellers, with bags from B and B Crafts. Shree Changesthan Construction also contributed to this collection.
Former Miss Nepal Usha Khadgi and actor Ranju Lamichhane walked the ramp adding the celebrity oomph to the glamorous night.
