Shilpa, Jermaine visit Jaipur

MUMBAI: Be it her bright bandhani dupatta or his white knee-length kurta, her manner of bowing down to touch the feet of elders she met, or his gesture of joining his hands in greeting, Jermaine Jackson and wife Halima Rashid seemed to be at home with all things Indian.

Jermaine, Michael Jackson’s brother, who had participated in the reality TV show Big Brother along with Shilpa Shetty , was the actress’ guest in Jaipur. The actress and her beau Raj Kundra had accompanied the Jackson couple on a visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra on Monday morning before flying to the Pink City on Monday evening.

They spent the whole of Tuesday visiting various places in the city including the Amber Fort and the City Palace. Shilpa, who seemed more than happy to be holidaying with the Jacksons said that she was happy to fulfil a commitment that she had made a long time ago. “When we reached the Taj, Jermaine just said ‘It is a dream come true’ and there were such lovely expressions on his face, I just can’t forget that,” beamed Shilpa. Rajasthan topped the list of places that Shilpa wanted her friend to visit. “I feel a strange connect with this place and I find a reason to come back again and again. I am proud of my country and wanted Jermaine to visit the best of the places here,” said Shilpa speaking to TOI.

On their part the Jacksons seemed as overwhelmed with the beauty of the Sheesh Mahal at Amber Fort and the Sukh Niwas at the City Palace as they were by Shilpa’s hospitality. “She is such a darling and is taking such good care of us. She’s made our dream come true. This is a captivating place indeed,” said Jermaine as he went around the lawns and terrace of the City Palace, accompanied by Padmini Devi of the Jaipur royal family.

At Amber, Shilpa played the perfect host, allowing the Jacksons to spend some private moments, even as she handled the media alone. Jermaine who is here to cut an album with friend Adnan Sami says that he and wife Halima are already thinking of coming back to India. “I would love to understand and know more about the culture, fashion and sensibilities of this country. There is so much to do here, I look forward to coming here more often,” said Jermaine and with a little twinkle in his eyes and looking at Shilpa, he added, “By the way, I am looking forward to coming back very soon in November for a very auspicious occasion, but I will keep my lips sealed for now.”
