Soothing spiritual numbers

KATHMANDU:

Anupama Dahal’s Pagala Badal (Crazy Cloud) is a collection of eight spiritual songs taken from a total of over 270 songs that spontaneously arose in her mind during her deep meditative absorptions. The CD offers a different taste than the regular music in the market. With mellifluous vocals and soothing tunes, Dahal’s songs also have powerful lyrics.

The album starts with a melodious Dittiya Buddha! and then moves on to another soothing number Amideva Aau, which is also out in video. Though the music could have been arranged better in one or two songs, overall, music arranger Pema Wangdi Lama too has done a decent job, especially in songs like Utha Dakini where the piano lead is amazing. He has given a blend of the Eastern classical, Western and Tibetan music. The tabla used in songs like Godhuli Tyo Sanjhma give a refreshing turn.

One can also follow the lyrics which is also included in the album. Overall, a wonderful collection of songs that soothe, talk about both human suffering and spiritual ecstasy, and urge towards positive thinking.
