Space search for worst polluters

Scientists are sending two new satellites into space to discover the world’s worst polluting countries. Researchers will use information sent back by the satellites to work out which parts of the Earth give out the most gases that are thought to be harmful to the environment. Experts will also be able to work out the type of places, like forests, which are best at absorbing them. It’s hoped the discoveries will lead to new ways of tackling climate change.

The satellites are being launched by the American space agency Nasa and the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency. Scientists at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland will study the information they gather. All of this will help us look for ways of combating climate change on Earth.
