Spears devastated by walk-out reports

LOS ANGELES: Britney Spears is "extremely upset" by false reports fans walked out of her concert in Australia on Friday (06Nov09).

Rumours surfaced that several members of the audience walked out of Burswood Dome in Perth during the first of Spears' 14 gigs Down Under, with some blasting the star for lip-synching, and branding her performance "boring".

But according to Paul Dainty, the organiser of Spears' Australian Circus tour, the reports are false and have left the Toxic hitmaker devastated.

He tells The Australian newspaper, "Britney is aware of all this and she's extremely upset by it. She's a human being. I'm embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting."

Spears' manager Adam Leber has also come to her defence, taking to her official Twitter.com page to write, "It's unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn't enjoy the show last night. Fortunately the other 18,272 fans in attendance did."

The furore came after Virginia Judge, the New South Wales Minister for Fair Trading, urged ticket agencies to warn fans about touring stars who don't sing live.

Taking aim at Spears in particular, Judge said, "Live means live. If you are spending up to $200, I think you deserve better than a film clip. The NSW Government would be happy to look at options, such as a disclaimer on a ticket which would warn consumers a performance is pre-recorded."

Dainty maintains it is common knowledge that Spears plays pre-recorded vocals during her shows, insisting she has never tried to hide the fact: "It's been all over the internet for nine months. This show is about an incredible spectacle, which it is."
