Steps to beat examination fears

There are many of us whose hair stands on end just thinking of examinations. Don’t worry friends; let me give you a few tips on how to prepare for an examination.

• Many of us read in our textbooks to do our best and leave the rest. We should try to do as much as we can and then leave the outcome or result to God.

• Plan out your work and work out your plan. This was one of the principles of Swami Chinmayananda. It should be obeyed everyday so that no problem can arise during exams. A routine should be made that should be followed everyday. There is no need to study hard just on the examination day.

• Our faults, which the teacher always points out, should be corrected. Some of us have poor handwriting, some are very poor in studies and some keep on forgetting what they’ve learnt. Practice makes a man perfect. Lazy students can keep increasing their study time by 30 minutes each day. Handwriting can be improved by practising from handwriting books as reference.

• Some of us have the habit of pondering over books till late in the night. Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. Late nights is the enemy of exams. Besides one might even suffer from eye pain or severe headache on the day of the exam because of this.

Along with the above tips, honesty, patience, sincerity and confidence are the virtues required while sitting for one’s exams.
