Steven to make Lincoln biopic

Los Angeles:

Director Steven Spielberg is reportedly set to bring a biography of US president Abraham Lincoln to the big screen, possibly starring Oscar-winning Irish actor Liam Neeson. Neeson, who won an Oscar for his role in Schindler’s List, is in negotiations to play the legendary US leader, the report from Variety said. Spielberg, who has hoped to do a Lincoln biopic since 2001, is aiming to start filming in January 2006.

A new book, “The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln” by sex researcher C.A. Tripp, argues Lincoln was primarily homosexual. But other researchers such as Doris Kearns Goodwin on whose book Spielberg’s film was to be based, dispute the idea. — AFP
