The White sun of the desert a movie released in 1969 is being screened on June 12 as the opening movie of the Russian action film festival. Directed by Vladimir Motyl the movie is about the Red Army Fighting the counter-revolutionary robber bands. This action film became a cult movie and it has become a tradition among the Russian cosmonauts to watch this movie before going to space. Shukov is charged with escorting the chief’s harem, because Abdulla intended to kill his women rather than let them go free. Shukov’s mate, a young soldier Petrukha, dies at the hand of Abdulla. But at the decisive moment he gets help from the former customs officer Vereshchagin.
