Kathmandu:
It’s Rachna Gurung Sharma who has been incessantly working for the last 11 years to make all the shows that are related to international beauty pageants successful here in the country. And this time again, the responsibility is on her able shoulders to groom Miss Tourism Queen, who will participate in first ever Miss Tourism Queen International 2005 scheduled to be held in China on June 7. Group of Event Entertainers is organising Miss Tourism Queen 2005 and the training sessions are going on at Eshanee Club for more than last two weeks. The Himalayan Times is the official media for the event.
“We are almost on the verge of finishing the training sessions. The finals will be held on May 20 at Yak & Yeti and we have almost completed every aspect of the training,” said Gurung Sharma.
Gurung Sharma has won lots of accolades for grooming and training most Miss Nepal participants in the country in last one decade. “There is still a lot to be done. First and foremost, awareness is a must. Girls still hesitate to participate in beauty pageants in this day and age which is a sad fact.”
Thirteen participants will be competing for the coveted title and some of them are fresh, whereas some have already participated some of the competitions like this one. “It’s true that some have a good experience of training and participation. However, I believe that since we started, we have come a long way. I have tried to cover every aspect related to the pageant and what I believe is the girls have done a wonderful job till date. On my part, I have to give my best. I always want to make sure that I don’t let anyone down, the rest lies on the girls as to how they present themselves and their dedication and devotion,” says Gurung Sharma.
Competing with international participants is definitely tough and Gurung Sharma does not deny the fact. “Whatever our resources are, our duty is to take best out of whatever we have. Who knows, one of our girls may make our country proud,” she says.
Miss Tourism Queen 2005 is being organised with an aim to uplift tourism in the country. Around 70 title winners from different countries will be participating in the international competition. The winner from Nepal will represent and showcase not only Nepal but also the cultural, religious and other aspects of the land.
“After the finals on May 20, before Miss Tourism Queen sets off for China, we have plans of an extensive training again where she will be trained by individual trainers on different subjects — personality, tourism, country, beauty, etc. If training only makes you understand how to walk and talk, then it should be put forth clearly that it is more than that; it’s something where the girls learn to discover themselves. It is about knowing oneself in the true sense,” says Gurung
Sharma.
