Fantasy tale wins kids book prize

The Nestlé Children’s Book Prize has been around for 23 years and the winners are voted by children. Author Matt Haig was awarded a gold medal at this year’s competition for his fantasy tale, Shadow Forest.

He won the nine to 11 category. When a Monster is Born by Sean Taylor and Nick Sharratt

won the under five group and Ottoline. The Yellow Cat by Chris Riddell took the prize for the six to eight section.
