THE WORLD THIS WEEK : Kids should know first aid

All children should learn how to help people who’ve been hurt in accidents, says a charity. The Red Cross thinks children need be taught skills called first aid, which help deal with things like burns, broken bones and other wounds. The charity says 13,000 people in Briatin die every year because of simple accidents, and many of them could have been saved if some one had used first aid. A survey showed most people think these skills should be taught at school. The Red Cross thinks every child should be taught eight basic first aid points. These include helping people who’ve passed out, helping people who aren’t breathing and dealing with breathing.
