After basking in the success of Golmaal-Fun Unlimited, Rohit Shetty is back and this time he has tried his hands in suspense thriller with a dollop of comedy. The gripping plot and the narration of the story does keep you at the edge of your seat and yes of course with brilliant actors like Arshad Warsi and Irrfan Khan you do get to laugh a lot. But it seems like the director lost his interest in the movie and gave it a mediocre ending.
The story is about a girl-next-door Sehar (Ayesha Takia) who is a dubbing artiste for animation films. Her happy life comes to a halt when she realises she does not remember anything about a certain Sunday when she possibly was attacked by someone. To get to the end of the mystery she takes help from her fiancé, a corrupted ACP, Rajveer (Ajay Devgan). In the process they come in contact with many people whom she had met during the blank phase and among them is the one who had attacked her. They come across zestful taxi driver Ballu (Arshad Warsi) and his struggling actor friend Kumar (Irrfan Khan), a suspicious neighbour and a group of goons who make many attempts to kill her. On the process they also come across two other murder mysteries that lead to Sehar and her missing Sunday indicating Sehar to be the ruthless killer.
Treatment given to the movie is fantastic, which makes it enjoyable for moviegoers. Suspense and thrill is kept enacted throughout the movie and actors are superb in their part. Though it keeps you eager and guessing about the mystery it is not very stressful and the comedy does not over kill the whole concept. Ajay Devgan as a corrupted policeman has done pretty well though we prefer him in dramas in which he has proved his acting ability. Ayesha Takia undoubtedly is one of the most talented actresses of her generation and is very natural in every role. She looks very fresh and pretty and looks kind of cute as a dubbing artiste. Mukesh Tiwari whom we have seen mostly in negative roles and in hard-hitting movies has done a marvellous job as an assistant to Devgan and proved his versatility in a comic role as well. But the actors who have shone throughout and made the whole experience delightful are Arshad Warsi and Irrfan Khan. Both have meaty roles and have done justice to their parts, their chemistry is just superb making us wish to see them sharing the screen space more often. Irrfan is hilarious as a struggling actor and both of them have got the best dialogues. In the whole it’s the comedy that you enjoy the most throughout the movie. The action scenes are too long and unnecessary and some of the songs just pop out in the middle of nowhere making it boring rather than refreshing. Esha Deol looks like a million bucks in her item number song which has been shot beautifully. But one thing that can’t be understood is Tusshar Kapoor doing a special appearance, as no one was pleased to see him groove on the screen.
