LONDON:

Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are set to bring the character Tintin onto the big screen. They are to direct and produce two of a series of three films on the character, reports ananova.com.

Jackson said the films would stay true to the designs on the original characters but the characters wouldn’t exactly look like cartoons. “Instead, we’re making them look photo-realistic — the fibres of their clothing, the pores of their skin and each hair. They look exactly like real people — but real Herge people.”

Spielberg said, “We want Tintin’s adventures to have the reality of a live-action film... shooting in a traditi-onal live-action format wo-uld not honour the distinctive look of the characters that Herge created.”
