Usha is Nepal’s Miss University

Kathmandu:

Usha Rajak was crowned the World Miss University Nepal 2006 at a glittering function held here in the Capital on October 13.

Usha’s answer to the question what would she do for women if she were to be the PM for a day clinched her the title.

“I will inspire them... women are strong and have it in them to make a difference. I will educate them and give them similar platforms like this to prove their worth,” answered Usha, who is pursuing her BBS course at the Unique College of Management and is a familiar face on our television channels.

Nabina Gurung and Pauline Limbu were the first and second runners-up respectively.

Twenty-seven contestants had been shortlisted to compete for the title and 10 out of them were selected for the final round. The event was organised by Excel Business Link Pvt Ltd.

Awards for other sub-titles were also given away at the programme. Krity Shrestha was crowned Miss Fair and Lovely, which was based on Internet voting (courtesy fursad.com). She had received a total of 1,74,756 votes.

Usha will be representing Nepal at the World Miss University 2006 pageant to be held in Korea in November. The World Miss University is an international event held in Korea since its inception, with the objective of spreading the message of peace and love throughout the world.
