Veteran singer Vaidya honoured

KATHMANDU: Veteran singer Yogesh Vaidya who has been contributing to Nepali music industry for the last five decades was felicitated on June 4 at an event organised by Mahila Geetkar Sangh.

As per a press release issued on June 4, Vaidya was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a dosalla. Other artistes from the music industry were also present at the event.

At the same event, 11th album of lyricist Unnati Bohora Sheela, Yo Lamo Jindagi was launched. Vaidya is the solo singer of the album while music director Sambhujeet Baskota is its composer.

The album was planned to be out four years ago, but it had to be delayed as the album was recorded  only after Vaidya got better after his transplant of both kidneys, the statement quoted Bohora as saying.

Of his felicitation, Vaidya expressed happiness, and performed his old and new songs at the event.

More songs were catered to the audience as singers Sanjaya Tumruk and Bishwa Nepali performed songs of Bohara at the programme, the press statement added.
