Walking together
KATHMANDU: Here’s a chance for you to be a part of a walk for equality, justice and peace.
At a press meet organised on January 10, Tewa announced that it is organising its annual walkathon on January 13 on the theme ‘Walk for equality, justice and peace’. The 10-km walk, which will be inaugurated by none other than Rajesh Hamal, will start from Maitighar at 8:00 am and end at the head office of Tewa at Dhapakhel.
Tewa is involved in the empowerment and advancement of women in the rural areas of Nepal, and has been organising the walkathon for the last eight years. The funds collected will go towards helping women who want to do something constructive but do not have the means to do so.
Representatives from other organisations will also be participating in the event along with Tewa members and volunteers.
Participants can fill up a form available at Tewa, and register themselves for the walkathon. For each kilometre one walks, one will have to pay Rs 500.
Refreshments will be provided along the route.
