Weekend lounge : On a cooking spree

Well known for his turntable talent DJ Ankit who lives a dual life of a DJ and an Event Manager at the Everest Hotel shares how he unwinds after a hectic week

KATHMANDU:

Friday is the most hectic day of the week so I end up being at work till 8 pm. After that I go home and try to relax myself with a power nap and a quick shower. Sometimes I have dinner outside and I like Ying Yang, Tukchhe Kitchen and Bawarchi for their delicious food and ambience. Then I come back to the hotel and am at Galaxy playing music till wee hours in the morning. More or less my Fridays (and technically Saturday mornings) are spent in work. Saturdays are all about relaxing and spending some me time. I wake up late and prefer staying home the whole day. Recently, I have got hooked into cooking various cuisines, I can cook Indian very well but nowadays I am trying my hands at Thai and Chinese dishes. When I cook I don’t just fix anything for the heck of it but spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing a huge meal and invite my friends over or relish the meal myself. Usually, my friends Nikhil, Puneeta, Kranti and Payal come by on Saturdays and we eat lunch and watch a movie together. I recently watched I am Legend, which was excellent.

I don’t have a pet of my own but I spend some time playing with my neighbours’ pets in the evening. I believe in keeping my place neat and tidy so a large chunk of my Saturday goes on cleaning my place though it is clean I make sure everything is in its place. I have created a cosy little studio of my own at home so I prefer spending some time there as well. Recently, I have become very busy otherwise every alternative Saturdays I used to go to the Last Resort with some of my friends. I have also allocated some budget this year for a trip to Brazil and Portugal, which I had been planning for quiet some time. This time I make sure I go for the vacation. I have promised myself that even if I have a heart attack I wont use that budget for the surgery. — As told to Abhilasha Subba
