A press conference was organised at VOITH complex to disseminate information on the rally on April 18. The rally is due to take place on April 23, Saturday. After the success of a similar rally in 2004, this is just the second event in row. “It is all about saluting the courage and determination of all the women who will be participating in the rally and it’s also all about celebrating womanhood in a fitting manner,” said Kakoli Ganguly, executive divisional manager, VOITH. Toyota Women’s Car Rally will start at 9 in the morning from VOITH Complex, Sinamangal and will end approximately after two hours. The finishing line will be Godavari Village Resort, Godavari. Sixty drivers and 60 navigators — altogether 120 women — will be participating in the rally.

Ganguly informed on the occasion, “The rally will be based on Time, Speed and Distance (TSD) to generate interest among participants for keen and sensible driving in terms of traffic safety along helping the lay driver as well to achieve a sharp sense of direction.” The participation cost is Rs 250 and all the proceeds will be donated to help educate girl children who cannot afford their education. This year, the money generated will be handed over to Chaurashi Devi Prathmik Vidyalaya — situated only three kilometres away from Hile, Dhankuta

— where 80 girls are studying from class one-five. VOITH’s commitment to uplift status of women in the country with the motto “Women in the driver’s seat of any decision-making” was also reiterated during the meet.
