Where does the blame lie?

There were plenty of students in that school. They always played inside the classroom when the teacher was absent. One day they accidentally broke the glass window pane. They were scared that they would get into trouble.

When the teacher came and saw the broken glass, he got angry and asked the students to confess it. The class was silent for a moment and then two boys got up and said they were the culprits.

The teacher was happy that they had admitted but said they needed to be punished. So he then took them to the Principal’s room and the rest of the class also followed.

The Principal was told the entire story and he was about to punish the boys when one of them spoke up.

He put the entire blame on the teacher saying that the teacher always came late to class, and that if he had come earlier they would not play in the class, and the window would not be broken.

This shocked the Principal and the teacher. He looked at the teacher told him to face the music.
