Where’s my shoe?
Isn’t it embarrassing to make a fool of yourself? I cannot forget the date November 25 as I made a fool of myself that day.
I was eagerly getting ready to go to my uncle’s place for a family gathering.
I started getting ready early in the evening. I could not decide what to wear because I wanted to look the best. As I started getting ready, I forgot all about the time and occasionally I glanced in the mirror and admiring at myself.
After the final touches, I looked into the mirror and I beamed with happiness and pride. I was looking the best. All of sudden I heard my mum shouting at me as we were already getting late.
Out of anger and frustration, my mum switched off the passage light and ordered me downstairs immediately. I did not bother to switch on the light and picked up my new pair of shoes and wore them. We hurried to my uncle’s place, and of course we were extremely late. Everyone had arrived.
At my uncle’s place we need to take off our shoes and keep those outside. We did that and in no time the house was full of laughter. Soon it was time to bid goodbye.
Once outside everyone fumbled with their shoes. I found one of my shoes and started looking for the other one. But then I did not find it.
Soon everybody started looking for my shoe. I saw one lifeless shoe, which looked very familiar. I went closer and took it in my hand and lo it was my shoe. And to my astonishment it was a different pair as I had picked them in dark. Everyone was
looking at me and I was so embarrassed. They started laughing at me. I blushed a lot but I learnt a lesson. — Aschal Shrestha, Class IX, South Point Boarding School
