You reap what you sow

n This is the genuine faith upon which the entire creation is based and being balanced. Pinning our faith upon this notion, we are able to understand the significance of our duty, morality and honesty. Moreover, pursuing the faith we are less likely to commit sins and crimes and more likely to be intended for a sacred path of life. If we involve in filthy, cunning and unhealthy activities during the day, we may have nightmares while asleep because what goes round with us during the day tends to come round at the very night of the day. Every action has propensity for being balanced by its reaction. It is a rule of nature. As the world is round, the evil deeds and thoughts of ours boomerang on the face of our life in due course of time. On the similar basis when we do some good deeds with honesty, the honesty surely pays someday. To deserve to be respected, we must respect others and ourselves first. To deserve to control others, we must learn to control ourselves first. In addition, to deserve consideration we must be considerate enough. In this way only, we can get what we deserve.

n Not all people are fortunate enough to get what they deserve. But if luck favours then people get what they deserve. At the early stage of my teen, I left my studies to earn for my family. After four years of hard work, I am back at my track, which means I am again pursuing my further studies. I firmly believe that I deserved a second chance to prove that I am still able to continue my studies. I feel that, the time I had left behind again came back to me. What goes round comes round but only if we are able to realise it and make the best out of it.

Laxman Gurung, Maharajgung

n "What goes round comes round". It is the truth that doesn’t require any justification at all. We all get what we deserve. We will only be able to get things according to our past life activities. Whatever we have done in our past life will affect our present life. And similarly, what we do in this present life will directly affect our future life. Life is a cyclic process. Whatever we try, we will not be able to acquire all desires in this short life, because what we deserve in this life has already been set up by our deeds of our past life. So, I think most of you have same belief that we always get what we deserve.

Neeraj Regmi, Chabhil, Kathmandu

n This is not sure whether people get or don’t get what they deserve. If someone has worked hard deserving to get something, there is no doubt that he would get it. When I was studying in my Intermediate, I worked very hard to excel. And so did I happen; I topped my class. So, it all depends upon how you act in your life. Hard work pays in terms of taste of success.

n Most of the people don’t get what they deserve. People with great talents and creativity are sometimes neither honoured nor paid well. Many people are there in the fields such as music, sports, science and technology who have despite performing outstandingly have never been revered. Just a few days ago, I heard about Tara Devi. It was commented that she has been neglected after she suffered from cancer. I agree with it. When she was able to sing, her talent was utilised, praised but after being a victim of cancer, she has been neglected. Not only she but there are others also who have not got what they deserve.

Janu Dahal, Kupondole

n We can encounter only few who got what they deserved. We can see many educated but unemployed people who despite deserving good job and good salary are deprived of opportunity. History is proof that Bhimsen Thapa, Bahadur Shah, Amar Singh Thapa did not get what they deserved. Being the people of ‘land of Buddha’ and living in ‘zone of peace’, we deserve peace and prosperity. But the mirror image of the present situation is not hidden to anyone. Let’s take example of great singer Jhalakman Gandharba, widows and orphans of martyrs. They deserve dignity and opportunity. But they didn’t get what they deserve. So what goes round does not come round.

n Whoever agrees with this old adage: ‘Where there is will, there is way’, will certainly believe that one gets what s/he deserves. But, for those who argue there is no any opportunity to expose their ability, I want to suggest that opportunity never comes on its own. We have to grab it. A well-known example is of Ram Krishna Dhakal who stood from the street and now has name and fame for he has such beautiful voice. Once hawker in Indian streets, APJ Abdul Kalam now holds the prestigious post of president of India because he deserved it. Examples abound that people get what they deserve.

Arjun Ojha, Damak-13, Jhapa

n I don’t believe that people get what they deserve, especially in context of our country. I don’t have much idea about rest of the world. "Money and nepotism rule our nation."

I have faced a great deal of such situations, which prove that I didn’t get what I deserved. Post my sent-up of grade 10, I took an exam in the capital for the scholarship in the UK. I passed it and had to appear in an interview but I never heard of the result. Later when I came to the valley again post my SLC with flying colours, I found that the people who had their relatives in the organisations had already left for the UK. So, I was sad and very much hurt. I passed my 11th grade in first division but was shocked to see my English result. I got few marks in comparison to that of earlier results. I was even more shocked to know about the highest scorer. He was none other than my classmate who never passed his English tests.

Raju Thapa

n I do believe that people get what they deserve. This is the fact in which life is all about. Whether it is good or bad, it is up to you to decide and proceed ahead. That is why decision-making process is very important to run things in life. People often get confused while making decisions in their life. Sooner or later, they pay the price for it. Again they may not know what is going on. The situations in recent days in world have proved that the more apt theory these days is: "what goes up, comes down or will come down".

Sanjeev Kharel,

n All of us agree that life is not a bed of roses and it of course is full of ups and downs as well. Success and failure, joys and sorrows are part and parcel of a life. Life, in other word, is a series of mazes, going through which one continues the journey of life. Everybody possesses an aptitude. S/he tries her/his best to make it come out real but to their dismay, many of them can’t due to various reasons such as financial, social. No one is sure of accidental circumstances that may happen any time. Those may occur any moment, which unexpectedly divert the journey to another destination than that one never thought of. One is aimed to achieve something but something else appears. This reality seems to have applied in lives of a number of people. I am no exception of this.

Anjan Gurung, Pokhara

n In this universe, everything is cyclic. Inside the atom of a particle, electrons go round the nucleus. After the sorrow, there comes the happiness. In this world, there are so many things which go round and which come round. I believe that people get what they deserve. Energetic, dedicated and hardworking people get what they deserve. Nothing is impossible. Man landed on the Moon. A man from the family of a simple farmer can become President. Laborious people are always at the top. People should love to work and wait. One should get the inspiration from the livings of the great people of the world. They should never loss the courage. One day, they can become what they deserve.

Raghubar Ram Dev,

n Do we get what we deserve? Most often we think we get far less than we should: be it money, marks, happiness or lotteries, everyone else has more but if we really think then we’d be actually thankful. I believe there is somebody up there who keeps the score of what we do and returns it well. The friends we have helped help us in return, the exercises we do keep our hearts healthy. If there is a desire and you match it with perseverance then the luck will be sprinkled. You can become Mother Teresa, Lincoln, Graf, Devkota or Narayan Gopal. You don’t need to be famous either. Knowing that you have done the best in the circumstances that you could will give your a lifetime of content and the pride to held your head high.

Sharada Manandhar

n The fact "people get what they deserve" has only been nice in theories and is like a mirage. It is true in developed nations. But I’ve never seen this happen in Nepal except some rare cases. The whole system is overturned in Nepal. People are not getting what they are supposed to. The minds full of knowledge and wisdom are not getting what they deserve. Some are getting high posts not because they deserve it but because they have back force. The qualified personnel are wandering in offices, organisations believing someday their day will come as they deserve it but all in vain.

Ujwal Mahajan

n Yes, I do believe that people get what they deserve. It depends on how you act. If you do good to other, of course it comes to you in later years of your life or in your rebirth. Though no body has seen it but many believe it. I don’t have any real life experiences to prove but I’ll get what I deserve in future or in my rebirth. Do the good to others and there is no doubt that you’ll get what you deserve in return.
