KATHMANDU, APRIL 5
The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the hilly and Himalayan regions on Sunday, with partly cloudy weather in the rest of the country.
Moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, hail and windstorms is likely at some places in the hilly and Himalayan regions. Light rain with thunder and lightning is also expected at a few places in the Terai of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, and at isolated locations in Bagmati and Gandaki. Windstorms are likely in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, the Himalayan region will remain generally cloudy, while hilly areas will see partly cloudy conditions and the Terai will remain mostly fair. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and at isolated areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini, as well as the hilly region of Gandaki. Windstorms are also expected in parts of Madhesh and Koshi Terai.
According to the division, the current weather pattern is influenced by a westerly low-pressure system along with local winds.
In the Kathmandu Valley, light rain with thunderstorms is likely during the day, with temperatures ranging between 26°C and 28°C and a 40 percent chance of rainfall. Night conditions are expected to remain partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to between 15°C and 17°C.
