KATHMANDU, MAY 18
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted generally cloudy conditions over Koshi Province and the hilly and Himalayan regions of Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province today, with chances of rainfall and thunderstorms in several areas.
According to the 24-hour forecast issued at 8:00 am, moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province and at a few places in Bagmati and Gandaki. Light rainfall is also possible at isolated locations in Madhesh Province and parts of the Terai and remaining hilly regions.
The remaining Terai areas are expected to witness mainly fair weather, although temperatures are likely to rise further in parts of Lumbini Province and Sudurpashchim Province.
Tonight, partly to generally cloudy conditions will persist over Koshi and the hilly regions of Bagmati and Gandaki, with chances of light rain or snowfall at one or two places. The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to mainly fair weather.
Meteorologists said the current weather pattern is influenced by westerly and local winds.
In Kathmandu, light rain with thunderstorms is forecast, with temperatures ranging between 28–30°C during the day and 19–21°C at night.
Pokhara is likely to witness moderate rain with thundershowers, while eastern hill districts such as Dhankuta and Taplejung may also receive moderate rainfall.
Meanwhile, hot conditions are expected to persist in Terai districts including Nepalgunj, Dhangadi and Bhairahawa, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 41°C.
