Kathmandu Valley to witness brief rain or thundershowers

KATHMANDU, APRIL 28

The weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy today in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and partly to generally cloudy over the hilly regions of the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD). Other areas are likely to experience mainly fair to partly cloudy conditions.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places elsewhere. There is also a possibility of light snowfall at a few locations in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, Koshi and Madhesh provinces, along with the hilly regions of the country, are likely to see partly to generally cloudy skies, while other areas will experience mainly fair to partly cloudy conditions. Light rain or thunderstorms are likely at one or two places in Koshi Province and the hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Light snowfall is also possible at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of these provinces.

Meanwhile, Kathmandu Valley is forecast to be partly to generally cloudy with brief rain or thundershowers throughout the day and night. The maximum temperature during the day is expected to reach 27–29°C, while the minimum temperature at night will likely range between 12–14°C. According to the MFD, the probability of rainfall in the Valley is 40 percent during the day and 20 percent at night.

The current weather patterns are influenced by a westerly wind system and local winds, with additional moisture entering from the Bay of Bengal, the MFD stated.
